IIHR has developed the country’s second-largest guava-Arka Poorna

This variety is developed from the progeny selection of the cross Purple local X Allahabad Safeda.  The plants are semi- vigorous in growth habit with prolific bearing, hence suitable for medium to high density planting. The fruits are round, medium to big in  size ( 200-230 g) with smooth, shiny pericarp. The pulp is firm, white with thick outer rind, good flavour, TSS ( 10-12 0 B) , ascorbic acid ( 190-198 mg/100 g) , medium soft seeds (  10 .0  to 12.0 kg /cm) and keeping quality. It is a dual purpose variety suitable for both table and processing (osmotic dehydration of rind).
