New variety of Brinjal: Pusa Oishiki

Pusa Oishiki (DBL-175)
This is the latest variety of brinjal identified by AICRP (VC). It is an early variety suitable for growing in kharif season. Plants are non-spiny having semi erect branches with purple pigmentation on stein.
Fruits are long (18-20 cm length), cylindrical (3. 5-4. 5 c1n diameter), shiny purple in colour with nonĀ­ spiny green calyx. Fruits are borne in solitary as well as in clusters. The average fruit weight is 100-12 5 g.
The variety takes 50-5 5 days fro1n transplanting to first harvesting. Average yield 13-20 q/ha and the potential yield 90 q/ha.
